The early days at Tripoint This car was Jeff Altenberg's first ride at Tripoint (car 40) while his Mazda6
(car 72) was under construction. When Tri-Point finished the Mazda6 this Protégé was sold to Elder/Brenner racing where Christian Elder was the driver (car 21). Car is sold in Elder/Brenner livery as last raced in Puerto Rico. |
Car21 on the transporter It is a very tight fit and one of the reasons wwhy it is for sale. Because of its height both the BMW and the Protege will not fit inside. The vette barley fits if I remove the Protege's roof antenna. We can deliver on the west coast but you'll have to pay for the driver and fuel both ways. At 8mpg you can get an idea of how much it will cost toget he car to you. If you buy it complete with spares and Motec we'll make you a deal on the shipping. |

It's a race car so it's not perfect but it has never suffered a crash

A SPEED World Challenge Mazda Protege (ex TriPoint & ex Elder/Brenner). The good part about taking the car to Conoga Park was finding out a bit of the car's hostory from Tripoint.
For sale is a retired World Challenge Touring Car. This car was Jeff Altenberg's first ride at Tripoint (car 40) while his Mazda6 (car 72) was under construction. When Tri-Point finished the Mazda6 this Protégé was sold to Elder/Brenner racing where Christian Elder was the driver (car 21). When Christian moved on to Formula Mazda I purchased the car and brought it to California. I've owned the car for 3 years and because of annual deployments to the middle-east have been unable to enjoy this car. It has not seen a track since the Elders last raced it in Puerto Rico. It would be perfect for NASA TC & USTCC as well as time attack and with some tuning maybe even drag racing. Who knows, but there are lots of opportunities to race these retired machines. There is still a team racing these Protégés in SPEED World Challenge but it would require a bit of money to make this package competitive against the Tri-Point Mazda 6s. So here's the history on this car since I purchased it. Blacktrax did over $4000 of work on the motor in late 2006 and during the last week of December 07 TriPoint went over the car and I paid $3500 to tune and prep the car. It could still use some work to make it better but I've decided to instead sell or trade it because it won't stack inside my new transporter. So it's up for sale. I'll trade it for any fun or semi competetive RWD race car that is UNDER 53" tall. Ideal would be a car that is under 51" tall. BMW E36/E46 or Porsche would probably work. Given the type of car I might be willing to throw in either CASH or maybe my fully modded RENNTECH E60 that has only 12K miles or my MIG21 Mongol B 600UM 2seater with fresh 13R motor. I also have an extensive spares package for sale separately at $6K (engine long block, mazdaspeed turbo, Tilton clutches, diffs, Alcon Hawk brake pads, bearings, carbon fiber dash, new slicks & new Rota race wheels).
a few years back during the dot.com boom I had a scientific company that struggled. my venture now is geovolta.com
